OverviewThe Black Rose is a collection of poetry by Terence Tremaine Andrus. Terence was born in Houston's Third Ward, a historic African-American neighborhood that has produced amazing resilience, resistance, misery-and creativity. Terence's short life was infused with all of those traits. Although he spent a childhood in a version of Third Ward contorted by the very depths of the crack epidemic, he still had a sense of nostalgia about growing up there among family members from three generations. Before his death, he was hoping that his poetry and artwork might one day be displayed in some gallery space in the revitalized Third Ward. And he wanted any funds raised to go to a good cause. These Collected Poems bring that vision into focus. All royalties will be donated, in his name, to the Texas Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty (TCADP).
