Catherine Brown's latest book will challenge, shape, inform, and bless leaders in both church and marketplace settings. She shares from her own experience of being a bivocational leader (a leader who operates in both ministry and marketplace settings), and uses Biblical teaching and compelling testimony to disrupt outdated ways of thinking about 'sacred' and 'secular.' Putting Christ and His Kingdom centre and front, Brown enables the reader to navigate and understand terms such as one vocational, bivocational, and covocational. She explores some of the misconceptions and bias that keep the Kingdom splintered when it comes to oneness between and among the church and the marketplace. Brown shares Biblical examples from the Gospels, the life of Christ, the life of the apostles, and the burgeoning post ascension church. She teaches with wisdom and revelation into what it means for believers and leaders to embrace their identity as bivocational leaders. She shares eruditely about being entrepreneurial, enterprising, missional, and ministerial giving real life examples including understanding what it means to be a 'tentmaker'. The book is with replete with New Testament teaching on hybrid models of being bivocational and how that can bring Kingdom transformation, create economic flow, restore economic blessing, release equity back into community, create Kingdom culture within culture, connect with societal gatekeepers, redistribute wealth, and enable skill transfer between both church and marketplace. Above all Brown highlights our primary call is spiritual - to know Christ and to make Christ known in whichever sphere we are graced to serve Him! She presents a convincing case that being bivocational is the 'quiet revolution' the Holy Spirit is orchestrating in our day, to raise, equip, and empower a global generation to be part of this Kingdom movement to evangelise and disciple nations for the glory of God.
