She founded the first free kindergarten in San Francisco in 1878 and wrote the classic children's novel Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm. Her work emphasized early childhood education, and she was a celebrated author of children's literature. Marnye Young is a stage, screen, and voice actor and has recorded hundreds of audiobooks. Marnye has an MFA from David Geffen Yale School of Drama and is the recipient of numerous awards, including SOVAS and Earphones.
