Ginger Coyote exploded on the San Francisco punk scene in 1977. At that time San Francisco only had two music magazines and if you were not part of their click you got no exposure. She had seen a copy of the British fanzine Sniffing Glue and thought Hey, I should do this! Not only did she help underdog bands, she also included people who attended the shows. Often they were the real entertainment. She also wanted to include art, television, and film. In 1977 she released two issues of Punk Globe with approximately 12 doubled sided sheets of paper stapled together. Giving them out at shows for free. Punk Globe seemed to catch on, so in August 1978 she began creating around 30 to 50 issues monthly, selling them for fifty cents... Punk Globe had made its mark in the punk community. In August 1979 the magazine went to newsprint and started to get advertisers, allowing her to increase the amount printed each month. In September that year, Jello Biafra of The Dead Kennedys chose Punk Globe to announce his now historic candidacy for Mayor of San Francisco. Throughout the years Punk Globe got quite a few exclusives on stories and events. The magazine also had some luminous contributors such as Musicians: Jello Biafra, Bebe Buell, Photographers: Lenore Real Cool Chick, Hollywood Star Editor Bill Dakota, Actors: Andrew Stevens, John Philip Law, Jonathan Gries and Dorothy Lyman. Punk Globe and Ginger Coyote became a regular fixtures in the late Herb Caen's award winning column in the San Francisco Chronicle. She also served as a co-host with the NBC affiliate station's News Anchorman Evan White for a five night special exploring the punk movement in San Francisco in the mid 80's. She decided to add singer to her resume. Which then led to forming her band The White Trash Debutantes. Punk Globe then started to be released quarterly and then at later twice a year. Then in 2005 Punk Globe went live on the Internet. The White Trash Debutantes got their first big break from Joey Ramone, a close friend and fan of the bands. Performing at his now legendary Circus Of The Perverse show with the likes of Joey Ramone, Bebe Buell, Daniel Rey. Lemmy Of Motorhead, Deborah Harry, Chris Stein, Stiv Bators and Cheetah Chrome along with many, many, others at NYC's Ritz Club. They then recorded their first release on Jello Biafra's label Alternative Tentacles which was produced by Bill Gould of Faith No More. Numerous releases on 206 Records, Beer City Records, Victory Records, Beer City Records, Victory Records, Orange Peel Records and Triple X Records. Tours and shows with such notable acts as The Lunachicks, The McCrackins, Green Day, The Ramones, Rancid, Good Riddance and L7 among many others. Taking them all over The USA, Canada, Mexico and Japan... Ginger has appeared in such films as Phone Sex - What Is Sexy? , American Hardcore (the DVD Version) , Tweek City , A Regular Frankie Fan , In Search Of Tonya Harding , Last Fast Ride , Bloodied But Unbowed , Justice For Jennifer and The Non Carol Burnett Hour .. In 2015 she was interviewed by Corbett Redford for the upcoming documentary East Bay: By The Punx, For the Punx, which is the story of how the East Bay's unique and thoughtful style of punk rock arose, sending out ripples from the incredibly diverse community of misfits that banded together around Berkeley's 924 Gilman. Today the world at large knows about some of the bands who emerged from this scene, like Green Day, Rancid, and AFI, but their success is just the tip of the iceberg; the roots of this inspiring story go deep into the underground. Her band The White Trash Debutantes, although from San Francisco, played the East Bay often.She has been featured on Television Shows such as Mad TV , Inside Edition , Jerry Springer , MTV Day in Rock , MTV Week in Rock , The songs 'Different for Girls' and 'Fit' were inspired by her because of her friendship with British Pop Musician Joe Jackson. She also had a poem written for her: Poem for Ginger Coyote by acclaimed Musician, Author, Poet, and Spoken Word Performer, the late Jim Carroll. The Frustrators featuring Mike Dirnt of Green Day fame featured a photo of Ginger on the liner notes of their CD Achtung Jackass out on Adeline Records... Romance Novelist Danielle Steel invited Ginger to write a passage for her book His Bright Light about her son, the late Nick Traina. Ginger and Kathy Peck (The Contractions and Co- Founder of H.E.A.R.) produced a Benefit CD H.E.A.R. This! , on Sub City Records to help benefit H.E.A.R. (Hearing Education and Awareness for Rockers). The CD featured 29 bands. The White Trash Debutantes perform the track 'Hey Nick... You Did Okay' featuring actress Amy Carlson {The Blue Bloods), and Jennifer Precious Finch (Sugar Baby Doll, Shocker, L7) on backup vocals. The song and CD is dedicated to the memory of the late Nick Traina. H.E.A.R. This! also features an opening introduction by the late Dirk Dirksen aka The Pope Of Book the Booker and Emcee of the legendary Mabuhay Gardens in San Francisco. Ginger recorded Rock n Roll Republikkkan , Trangeneration and Boys with punk icon Jayne County, Warhol Superstar Holly Woodlawn and the legendary Cherry Vanilla. She also appeared in the Josie Cotton Video Maneaters which received airplay on VHI. .. She is featured in a documentary about Women Who Collect Vinyl by Film Maker Anthony Garlanza. The World Of Wonder included Ginger in a video they did for an art show at their gallery on Hollywood Blvd called Andy Warhol Dead at 21 . She made a special guest appearance with Jayne County on a rare one-night- only show at the infamous Viper Room on Sunset Bvld in West Hollywood. Her image was captured in a painting by famed artist Fernando Carpaneda and it was featured in a display on a very tall building in New York City's Times Square which was quite an honor. She was invited by Filmmaker Susanne Tabata to be a speaker on the panel for her film Bloodied But Unbowed at Punk Rock Bowling. One Finger Films will be releasing a documentary about Ginger Coyote life in the year 2017 to help celebrate Punk Globe's 40th anniversary... Ginger along with The Floydian Device (Marc Floyd) and Sharla Cartner are working as a nucleus to celebrate Punk Globe's 38th Anniversary in August 2015.
