Overview

Eleven-year-old Adela is a bundle of nerves as she starts at a new public school, only knowing one other person-her best friend Maddy. Adela thinks she has it made when Taylor and the coolest girls in the fifth grade want to be her friends. All she needs to do is get them to like Maddy too. That's when things get stressful and weird for Adela. She wants everyone to hang out as one big group, but Taylor and company think otherwise. Adela sets off on a journey to try and blend the group, but ends up on an emotional roller coaster instead. She mixes exciting times such as exchanging friendship necklaces, home spas, gymnastics, and movie parties with confusing and crushing times that include excluding, teasing, embarrassing, gossiping, spreading rumors, and social rejection. Take this journey with Adela as she searches for true friendship and resolves this troubling mess.
