OverviewThe collection of documents covers a comparatively small historical period in the early 1960s, which, nevertheless, had a largely determining effect on the further development of the historical process both within the USSR and throughout the system of the world communist, national liberation and labor movement. Published archival documents highlight the preparation and conduct of the XXII Congress of the CPSU in 1961, which became not only a starting point in the ideological justification for the transition of the USSR to the building of the foundations of a communist society, but also the beginning of the second stage of total de-Stalinization. In addition to the materials of the direct congress, the collection also includes numerous previously unpublished documents from the collections of the Russian State Archive of Modern History (RGANI) on the policy of the highest Soviet leadership during this period, reactions in the USSR and throughout the world to the decisions taken by the Congress, their influence on intra- and the foreign policy activity of the CPSU and the Soviet state in subsequent years. The collection was prepared by the specialists of RGANI and is intended for scientists, researchers, teachers and students, as well as for a wide range of readers interested in recent history.
