She has a Master's in Grief and a Doctorate in Restoration. Bernadine earned her Associate degree at Cincinnati State College, her Bachelor's at Thomas More College, and her Master's and Doctorate in grief in the neighborhoods of Cincinnati, Ohio. In 2007, she lost another brother; in 2014 she lost her niece; and in 2015 she lost her husband. It can be said that she is well acquainted with grief. She is familiar with, feels, knows, and understands what it feels like to have a loss and to grieve. Bernadine desperately fought to regain the part of her that died when she saw her son lowered into the ground. She knew her healing would come by being there for others who would have to travel that ghastly road of grief. Today, Bernadine feels led to help others who have gone through loss to regain their purpose and passion. In 2011, she began the support group, Forgive and Release, which embraces families who have lost loved ones through violence or other circumstances. Along with her support group, her other love is writing. She mixes fiction with biblical and factual truth and tells stories only she can, in the way only she can do. Bernadine readily admits she's not special, because thousands of families have lost sons, daughters and other family members to violence, suicide or other circumstances. She just decided not to give those negative emotions of hatred, anger, depression, self-pity, loneliness, confusion and strife, to name a few, any more of her time or tears.
