OverviewThis paper examines the fundamental principles of Montessori education and how they are observed in practice. It begins with a brief explanation of why so many new educational approaches emerged, particularly in the 20th century. It then outlines the key milestones in Maria Montessori's life and the origins of her educational philosophy. The third chapter describes the sensitive periods identified by Maria Montessori and the developmental stages children go through during these phases. It also addresses the needs of children at each respective stage of development. The research method chosen for this thesis was field research. The steps to be carried out are described in the fourth chapter. The focus of this bachelor's thesis lies on the basic principles of Montessori pedagogy in the fifth chapter. A comparison was made between the theory and the observations made during classroom visits.
