OverviewMeet Lorrie, the Barefoot Veterinarian, who plied her trade in the wilds of Southern California for over 30 years, caring for a wide range of species, including dogs, cats, monkeys, goats, seals, wallabies, ferrets, ... the list goes on and on. Not your typical small animal urban veterinarian! This book is a collection of the many memorable experiences in Lorrie Boldrick's life as a veterinarian, beginning in veterinary school and ending with her first retirement. Some of the stories will make you smile, many will make you laugh, others will make you sad and a few may even make you cry. Hopefully, they'll all make it clear what an extraordinarily rewarding and often entertaining career she had caring for animals - and often their owners! Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationLorrie Boldrick, D.V.M. lives in Orange County, California with her two dogs, Tryin (Bernese Mountain Dog), and Seamus (Border Terrier) and her cat, Sarabi (Abyssinian). While much smaller than the menagerie she maintained for years, her current brood is much more manageable for pet-sitters when she engages in her favorite pastime - travel. Her love of the exotic is not restricted to animals, as her travel destinations have included Machu Picchu, Antarctica, Australia, Africa, Madagascar, Costa Rica and Belize, among many others. She still spends plenty of time with the dogs and cats, though, as after a failed retirement, she reopened Quillie Acres Veterinary Clinic in 2003. When not treating animals or exploring the globe, Lorrie enjoys walking with her dogs, bicycling with friends, reading and stained glass. Lorrie has also published four veterinary books - Pygmy Goats Management and Veterinary Care, The Illustrated Standard of the Pygmy Goat, Pot-Bellied Pet Pigs Mini-Pig Care and Training and Veterinary Care of Pot-Bellied Pet Pigs. Michael Boldrick, Ph.D. known as Uncle Mike or Mikey in several of the stories, is not a real doctor (i.e., a veterinarian ... or even an M.D.), but a Ph.D. engineer. Besides being a great co-author (especially if you prod him enough and take away his iPod), he is spearheading the development and implementation of world-class medical software. Mikey lives and travels with his best friend, Bashan, a twelve-year-old black Labrador Retriever. He loves the outdoors, especially the ocean, and often escapes from behind the keyboard to pursue his passion for triathlon Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
