For many years, Robert P. Lawry was Professor of Law and Director of the Center for Professional Ethics at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. THE AUTUMN OF MY DISCONTENT is Lawry's third book of poems, following NECESSARY PLEADINGS (2005) and INTO ALL THAT BLLUE (2015), and adds richly to what is already an impressive body of work. The subject matter of these intense, metrically astute poems range widely, from loss and longing to the idiosyncratic behaviors of families and beyond. They often tell stories too, or ask questions about the hidden meanings in things. Great variety is the hallmark of this collection, both in substance and in form.
