OverviewThe eras of law enforcement in Arvada, Colorado, saw a small town emerge from its rural beginnings to a thriving urban city. As it grew, so did the demand for police services. With expansion came new challenges, and crime became more prevalent, including acts of violence against both residents and law enforcement. Public safety was no longer just a concern; it was a necessity. The future brought a more structured and organized police force, one that could meet the evolving needs of the community. Through The Eras: The Arvada Police Department 1904-2025 explores significant changes in approaches to policing, community outreach, technology, tactics, and noteworthy criminal events. The stories are wrapped around the genesis of policing and early prevention efforts. In many respects, the book's material reflects the professionalism of the Arvada Police Department and the origins of community policing, which long predated its emergence as a prominent concern in jurisdictions nationwide.
