She is the founder and principal investigator of the Cultural Mindset Project and the Individual Cultural Mindset Inventory, and a highly regarded authority in leadership, culture, leadership development, and organizational behavior. She has a BA in Psychology and French from the University of Denver, an MA and PhD in Social Psychology from University of Utah. Prior to coming to USD in 2013, she taught at Arizona State University for 26 years in the Business School and in the School of Public Administration. While at ASU she was director of the MBA program at ASU's West campus, director of University College, associate dean of University College and of the College of Public Programs. Most recently, she was Chair of the Department of Leadership Studies at the University of San Diego. She was ASU's 2004 Professor of the Year and she is additionally the winner of several other teaching awards. Prior to joining ASU, she was an assistant professor of Human Resources Management at Northeastern University in Boston. In addition to The Art and Science of Leadership, she is the author of several other books including The Cultural Mindset: Managing People Across Cultures, Ancient Leadership Wisdom, Organizational Behavior and Organizational Behavior: The Person-Organization Fit, and Organizational Culture in the Management of Mergers, as well as many other articles and chapters about leadership, culture, teams, and ethics.
