OverviewThe ninth century Jabir ibn Hayyn is the supposed author of a number of alchemical works in Arabic. Half a millenium later in Europe, alchemical writings appeared under the name 'Geber'. These had little to do with Jabir ibn Hayyn, and it was obvious that various European alchemical writers contributed to the mass of Geberian writings. This series of one hundred aphorisms is taken from the 17th century alchemical compendium 'Ginaeceum chimicum', 1679. It promotes the idea that quicksilver is the basis of the Philosophers' Stone.
