Prior to retirement, she was a Senior Lecturer at the University of Otago, New Zealand, where she was also the Academic Director of the Student Learning Centre. She has published in the fields of Higher Education and Communication Literacies as well as Medieval Studies, but in recent years the main focus of her research has been the Anglo-Latin and Middle English versions of the Gesta Romanorum.
