The setting is a prep school dormitory in Takanawa, Tokyo, at the dawn of the Heisei era. Together, they move to corner a trading company executive caught in a web of illicit dealings. Having discovered the ""spells"" of language in his childhood before he could even speak fluently, the protagonist grew up wielding words as his primary power. Decades later, the protagonist's life is split between the United States and Japan. He has reconnected with an old comrade-a once-fragile girl who has since ascended to the heights of power. By tracing a century-old family business that sustained it, he begins to unearth his true self. In the space where past and present, sorcery and syntax collide, the story that must be told crystallizes.
