Overview

Ambassador Edward Goldstein returns to Pitcairn after his success on NotTrist, but not everyone from Earth appreciates his efforts. When the Pitcairn Administrator offers him the position of Ambassador At Large, he accepts. Hoping for a less stressful career on the peaceful world, he renews his relationship with Pitcairn native Jean Menzies, but light years away, the automated exploration ship Alejandro Castillo has made a discovery. Soon Goldstein's title will mean much more than anyone expected, forcing him to negotiate with the alien Kitar and, once again, face his enemies on Earth.

On a visit to old Sacramento with my family, an exhibit on the influence of the Wells Fargo wagon on the frontier made me think about how it would be for colonists in another star system without faster-than-light travel. After retiring from my engineering career in 2009, I used that inspiration and published the Tau Ceti trilogy: ""A Ship From Earth,"" ""The New Colonists,"" and ""The Immortality Conspiracy."" That effort spawned new ideas for the universe I had created, and the two Methuselah novels, the Capek novella, and the Ambassador novels followed.
