Haggarty is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London and has sat on the council of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland and both medieval and post medieval societies. George is also a Research Associate at National Museums Scotland and has published or co-authored more than 160 papers or articles on ceramic material dating from the 12th to the 19th centuries. Presently he is working on a number of pottery and porcelain catalogues of the Leslie collection. At the same time keeping up his interest in medieval ceramics, he has a number of papers in the pipeline.
