Talking spy cats, spy gadgets, and a fancy hotel: Poppy and her spy cat Blackie have to figure out who's framing Poppy's mother for stealing the Duchess Emerald-a necklace worth millions. Poppy lives in the basement of a fancy hotel, visits the Spy Museum every day, and loves her cat. She doesn't have many friends, but who needs friends if you have a cat? When Poppy overhears someone plotting to steal an expensive necklace and blame her mom for the theft, she has barely any clues to go on to stop the thieves. And Blackie, her cat, needs to get his spy food every day or he goes back to being a regular cat. Even worse, if the hotel manager finds out about Blackie, she'll make Poppy get rid of him. Poppy will have to use everything she's learned about spying to keep her mom from being fired. She has a few aces up her sleeve-after years of living in the hotel basement, she knows the hotel's spaces better than anyone. But the most important thing working in her favor-she has a spy cat.

L. Ana Ellis knew from a young age she wanted to write. While still in elementary school, she announced to her sisters that she wanted to write novels. Her first planned book, The Butter Nife/Knife, is still waiting to be written. Not yet a famous author, Ellis continues to work a day job in order to buy her cats kibble and catnip toys. As it turns out, Ellis can see the Spy Museum from her office. After many days of staring at the Spy Museum building while procrastinating, Ellis was inspired to write ""The Adventures of Poppy and the Spy Cat.""When she's not writing about cats, she enjoys watching cat videos. She has a membership to the Spy Museum and enjoys attending their events. Ellis has also written a cyberpunk sci-fi trilogy, called the Panacea Trilogy, that is targeted to adults (but suitable for young adults).Ellis lives in the Washington, DC area with her husband, two cats, and the occasional foster kitty. When procrastinating, she occasionally posts cat photos on Instagram as l.ana.ellis.books. She publishes under the indie press Fire-Forged Books.
