Born in the heart of Mississippi, Mushak's story begins long before his first breath-when his parents journeyed from India in the most unexpected way, tucked away in boxes of fruit bound for America. Now living on the Collins Farm with a loving Christian family, Mushak has found his place in a world far from where his story began. Curious, clever, and full of heart, Mushak spends his days helping the humans around him-especially when they become distracted. His favorite companion is Baby Star, a bright and joyful little girl who shares something special with him: they were born on the very same day. But everything begins to change when a group of Buddhist monks arrives in Mississippi during their walk for peace. While others see only a peaceful journey, the truth is far more profound.
