It all begins after Lilli's father, JC Mitchell, an archeologist who is in search of his missing wife, changes their vacation plans and tells them to quickly take a flight to Bermuda. The kids are certain that something is wrong and follow the order. Tristan St. Clair, a greedy and ambitious relic hunter, believes he could get more powers as he acquires more artifacts and relics. Table of ContentsReviewsReviewed by Divine Zape for Readers' Favorite 5 STARS The Adventures of Lilli and Zane: The Series Compilation by Catherine Lanigan is a YA adventure that pulses with action. The story follows Lilli, Zane, and Teddy as they go on a series of adventures, including a mysterious dive in the Bermuda Triangle, where they encounter an alien named Andar, the commander of an undersea spaceship, and his crew. Andar reveals that the kids have been chosen to be saviors of the universe and that their mother, Arlette, is being held in a bubble by an underwater ship. The kids agree to help Andar and his crew, but they are unsure what they are getting themselves into. They experience strange things, including newfound psychic abilities and visions of their pasts. Meanwhile, they must protect and hide Lilli's archaeologist father, JC Mitchell, from Tristan St. Clair, who covets Lilli's father's extraordinary discovery of an ancient time machine. Catherine Lanigan's book was an exciting read, and I enjoyed the banter and the well-developed relationships between Lilli, Zane, and Teddy. Their challenges grow throughout every page, and it was intriguing to read the twist about Lilli's mother. The author expertly develops the themes of courage, loyalty, and the responsibility that comes with power as the kids discover their supernatural skills and a new mission to save humanity. The Adventures of Lilli and Zane features lovable characters, a compelling narrative voice, and suspense that keeps you turning the pages. The exquisite pose and the superb worldbuilding are some of the elements that captivated me. Reviewed by Mary Clarke for Readers' Favorite The way Catherine combined history, myths, science, and fantasy elements without losing touch with the book's flow was really impressive. I loved the bond between Lilli, Zane, and Teddy; they always cared for each other, and the way their friendship was a source of strength in every trial they faced captivated me. Catherine's writing is very detailed and maintains an exciting and adventurous tone. The way she showed Tristan's hunger for power and control was very relatable-it showed how greed and pride can destroy a person. There were many plot twists and tension in this book. I loved how Catherine was able to capture normal high school life and show the everyday lives of teenagers through her narrative; it was really creative and thoughtful. The Adventures of Lilli and Zane covers themes of friendship, courage, destiny, the battle between good and evil, and the power of love. It would definitely be a fun read for young adult readers. I recommend it to lovers of adventure novels with lots of action and suspense.
