Mary Griffith Chalupsky was born Mary Etta Griffith to Viola (Brown) and Edgar Griffith during the depression. She was married to LaVerne Chalupsky for 56 years prior to his death. Together they raised six children on a farm near Fairfax, Iowa. She attended college after her youngest children entered high school and studied the arts. She was a volunteer in her church and her community while working in the medical field. She owned and operated Medical Claims Billing and served under several state commissions (Judicial compensation, Athletic Trainer and Tax Study) for Iowa's Gov. Terry Branstadt. She worked as a freelancer for Eastern Iowa Online Newspaper, the Arkansas Pacesetting Times, and God Makes Lemonade series. She is a member of the Mayflower Society, the DAR and several writing groups. She lives in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with her little dog Buttons.
