Overview

This book, The Adventures of Herman the Happy Horse, is about a Horse who lived a happy, contented life. He had an owner named, Farmer John, who he loved and was his best friend. Herman also had many friends. Randy Rooster, Mother Hen, Gruffy Goat, Mealy Mouse, Bell Bluebird, Mr. Owl, Petunia Pig, and Mrs. Farmer John, Herman was so happy until Farmer John brought a new addition to their happy family. Shortly after the new family member arrived, Herman's friends had already picked out a name for her. They named her, Mouthy Mare because she would brag to Herman about the many places she traveled. Herman spent much time with her, and ever since Herman's friends noticed Herman wasn't happy as usual. He began to mope around and grumble and complain. He didn't run through the meadow letting his mane blow in the wind. He didn't do much of anything. Mealy Mouse had enough! She set out to get Herman some help, The more Herman talked to Mouthy Mare, the more unthankful and discontented he became. Herman wanted to leave. Herman's friends sought to get Herman some help. Mouthy Mare convinced Herman that the grass was greener on the other side. Farmer John took him on some adventures, which made Herman learn the hard way to be thankful, and to watch out who he listened to. This is an awesome book for children to learn some important life lessons.
