Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationDUSTY DONALDSON became a lung cancer advocate immediately following her lung cancer diagnosis in September 2005. After five years of volunteering with several nonprofit organizations, she founded the Dusty Joy Foundation in 2010, with the support of her family. The Dusty Joy Foundation (LiveLung) is a nonprofit organization on a mission to advance lung cancer education, early detection, and compassion for people impacted by lung cancer. With a growing national network of monthly educational community lung cancer patient groups, LiveLung is passionate about improving health outcomes by building a community where those impacted by lung cancer can become educated, encouraged, and empowered to achieve the highest quality of life possible during their lung cancer treatment and survivorship journey. Prior to her diagnosis, Dusty was a journalist at daily newspapers in Virginia and North Carolina. She earned several journalism awards from the Virginia Press Association. She later became a communications and media relations specialist. She earned a BA in journalism from Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia and an MA in public policy journalism from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She also earned a certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke University. Dusty lives in High Point, North Carolina, with her rescue kitties, Buttons and Butterscotch. KIMBERLY LESTER became a lung cancer advocate after her mother's lung cancer diagnosis in 2005. Since then she has devoted much of her free time supporting the lung cancer cause through social media, artistic designs, charity events and many other ways. Her creative skillsets in the areas of writing and design have proven valuable in elevating awareness. Kimberly contributes to the day-to-day activities of the Dusty Joy Foundation and LungCAN while holding a fulltime position. Kimberly is a technical writer with a BS in Professional Writing from Old Dominion University in Virginia. She is currently living her best cat lady life n the heart of Virginia's Shenandoah Valley with Scoop, Lily, Diesel, Petie Pie, and Nutmeg.
