OverviewThis is not a memoir or a confession, but a collection of unchronological stories about my very strange youth. My sister's death at a very young age was the stone thrown into the pond that rippled through my childhood. My Mother, after trying to connect my sister in the afterlife, joined a cult, and my Father became a happy but neglectful drunk. Set against the national madness of Apartheid, it was a wild ride. Along the way, there's an encounter with God, severed heads, bad pies and even worse haircuts. That said, this collection of stories works on the premise that comedy is tragedy plus time. They move fast and don't explain themselves. I've talked my way into situations I didn't fully understand, trusted people I shouldn't have, and often stayed far longer than was sensible. These are the stories that survived.
