OverviewThe 28th Garibaldi Brigade was one of the few Italian partisan units integrated into the Allied forces. Of communist inspiration, it also counted in its ranks exponents of other political parties engaged in the liberation struggle. It was named after Mario Gordini, a prominent personality of the Resistance in Ravenna, shot in Forlì on 4 January 1944. Inextricably linked to this formation is the figure of Arrigo Boldrini, nicknamed ""Bülow"", an officer with great organizational and military skills. After the war he was a member of the Constituent Assembly and was later elected to the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. He held the position of President of the National Association of Italian Partisans (ANPI) from 1947 to 2006.
