"This textbook is written for students with no previous training in law. Its intention is to present a challenging treatment of the law of contract. The book should, therefore, be particularly useful for law undergraduates, and for those studying contract law as part of a course in another discipline. The author has made particular provision for non-law students by including an introduction to the English legal system and its place in the European Community framework. This edition has been updated to reflect developments in the law of contract in the two years since the last edition was published. In particular, there is extended treatment of the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations (which came into force on 1 July 1995), a complete revision of undue influence in the light of ""Barclays Bank v O'Brien"" and ""CIBC Mortgages v Pitt"", and treatment of the important decisions relating to remedies of ""Surrey CC v Bredero Homes"" and ""Ruxley Electronics v Forsyth"". Also noted are the Houe of Lords modified view of the duty of disclosure in insurance contract (in ""Pan Atlantic Insurance v Pine Top Insurance""), and the developments of a further exception to privity (in ""Linden Gardens Trust v Lenesta Sludge Disposals"").
