Andrew Cates currently serves as General Counsel and Director of Government Affairs with the Texas Nurses Association. Throughout his 7 years in and around the Texas Capitol as an attorney, he has gained the respect of his peers for his dedication and ambition to vigorously serve his clients in the ever-changing political environment. Before moving to TNA, Andrew served in multiple high-level roles for state representatives and committees before moving to the lobby to represent solar energy and healthcare clients. Most recently, Andrew served as lead legislative attorney for the Texas Association of Realtors and lead attorney for one of the largest political action committees in Texas, the Texas Association of Realtors PAC (TREPAC). Andrew frequently presents and teaches on political ethics in addition to his other commitments, with specific emphasis on fundraising ethics and legal considerations for PACs and membership associations. He lives in Austin with his wife Nicole and newborn Dylan, where he serves on advisory boards and boards of directors for multiple non-profit organizations.
