OverviewThis book is the result of studies carried out on reinforced concrete towers. Specifically, telecommunication towers. It is considered that the methodology presented here can be applied to several types of slender towers, with due caution being exercised. Results of experimental measurements in real structures were used to define parameters that can be useful for the practice of engineering. The sensibility of the designer is accumulated along his professional life. Designing and decision making may be considered forms of art, due to nature's randomness. We hope that this book will contribute for one successfully perform these processes. The main objective of this book is to find curves that represent the bending stiffness of reinforced concrete structures. For this, optimization techniques are used to minimize the error between results of the structural mathematical model and those obtained experimentally. Finally, these curves are used to develop a non-linear dynamic model and accomplish the optimization of similar towers. We would like to gratefully acknowledge the contributions of Prof. Dr. Jasbir Arora, from the University of Iowa, advisor to one of the authors, that should be credited for part of the success of this book. Nevertheless, the authors are the sole responsible for the statements and results of this book. Sao Paulo, March 2025. The Authors.
