Reviews

Lisa was in life about as brave a soul as you could hope to come across and now she's left her words of courage to help others navigate in times of darkness. Inspiring, brave and giving describe Lisa, and this wonderful book just backsthat up. JOHN CALDWELL, CEO - RWR GROUP The day I met Lisa - Melbourne Cup Day 2016 - is etched on my mind. Lisa had that X factor; she oozed confidence even when she was stricken with unimaginable pain. Reading the book, I felt like I got to know Lisa even more: her resilience, her battle and her never-give-up attitude is a running theme throughout what is one of the most emotional, bittersweet, sad but weirdly uplifting books about a young woman who, with the help and love of her family and friends, lived like a rockstar until she took her last breath. Lisa, quite seriously, will never be forgotten. I could not put the book down and read it in one session - yes, she left that kind of mark. Wherever her spirit is now, she will be singing, dancing, joking and still working out what she should wear to her next Melbourne Cup VIP appearance. Lisa rocked. She made the most of the cards she had been dealt and boy, was a mighty fine rockstar until she left this world. I could not put the book down - it really is a must-read. Love you, Lisa. And Mumma, Geraldine, you are just as big a shining light as your exquisite daughter. MELISSA HOYER Media Editor and Commentator, News Corporation & Seven Network, Sunrise, The Morning Show and The Daily Edition Like any iconic tale, I knew what was coming and how it would end, yet I couldn't put it down and loved every minute of it. I can't remember a book that has given me so many constant streams of tears whilst also giving me literal laugh-out-very-loud moments. It's beautifully co-written both from the point of view of a dying daughter and a mother watching her loved one die. It's a must-read for anyone feeling like their life needs perspective, craving a tale that will move them at their very core. It's an emotional manual for anyone on a cancer journey, whether they are the one coping with cancer or a loved one supporting. CONSTANCE HALL, BLOGGER AND AUTHOR It's a testament to how much you have affected so many Lisa, with your honesty and at times harrowing account of this hideous disease. I pray you are comfortable and know that so many here have you in their thoughts. Be proud of yourself for sharing this journey with us, and I hope we have at times helped you along the way. You are an inspiration to so many, Lisa. If we can be half as amazing as you in life, then we are blessed. SHARON PECK You are my inspiration even though we have different cancers. Hearing and reading your blog helps us to keep fighting even when we have been given the worst news ever from our oncologists. Your humour and wit are fab. You make us all smile, cry and laugh out loud and wish that we could be there for you. It's amazing how many hearts YOU have touched, ROCKSTAR. MAYANA WILSON

Author Information

Geraldine is a mother, wife, friend and also a daughter herself. She travelled this difficult road right alongside her daughter, Lisa, throughout the good, the bad and the ugly side of all things cancer. For those people coping with cancer and wondering if you are still normal¿ yes, you are still normal. Lisa and Geraldine have shared their private thoughts and moments to redefine that word for you. Lisa navigated the minefield that is cancer just after turning 30 years old. Her friends, family and colleagues had told her for years that she should put her thoughts into words. Four years into her journey with cancer, she decided to begin. Heartbreakingly honest, raw and direct in her writing, Lisa tells you her story with no holds barred. She didn't write her blog to offer enlightenment. There was no motive to make you radically change your diet and start chanting at a full moon. She wrote the blog for her.And for her family.
