It is believed that consumption of alcohol in moderation may not pose or represent a pathological situation but when it exceeds the limits and becomes an addiction it comes to be viewed as a social evil and a health hazard and leads to other social evils and problems. Alcoholism is a known problem worldwide. Alcohol has been accepted as the most widely available and the most abused drug. The implications of alcoholism are mind boggling, considering the personal, family, financial and the social effects. Still, the economic considerations of alcohol for the industry, the resource generation for the governments and the control of the sale and consumption of this addictive beverage meet many obstacles. There are many reasons why alcoholism is viewed as a disease of the Nation. Many marriages break up over drinking problems. Family violence typically member when one or both spouses have been drinking, and drinking makes family violence more dangerous. Families play a critical role in mending from alcoholism. In India recently Alcohol use and abuse is a serious problem among young people. There are a number of unhealthy risks connected with it, including alcohol dependence, and alcohol related accidents and violent behavior. Alcohol dependence is a worldwide problem as its self-induced intoxication is socially tolerable. Alcohol as a disease driving force causes discriminating and chronic intoxication, cirrhosis of liver, toxic psychosis, pancreatitis, and gastritis, cardiac. Also support is mounting that it is correlated to cancers of mouth, pharynx, larynx and esophagus.
