She was born in Valdosta, Georgia, but raised by her parents in Madison, Florida. Her utmost obligation is to continue a legacy that was created several years ago by her grandparents, Frank C. Merritt and Jenyethel Merritt. Nevertheless, her parents molded her into an outstanding citizen.Enthrallingly, Mr. Frank Merritt was the first African American Mayor of Madison, Florida and Jenyethel Merritt was the first African American president of a community college in the state of Florida during the 1960's. To say the very least, Mr. and Mrs. Merritt were the product of several movements for minorities along with other astonishing achievements. It was at the will of Mr. Merritt, who served his community from several positions, that Candida and her family joined Mt. Zion A.M.E Church, located in Madison, Florida. She has been a member of Mt. Zion A.M.E Church for more than two decades.Candida is one of few relatives of Mr. and Mrs. Merritt who has made it a priority to keep her grandparents legacy alive as well as informing and educating others about the definition of Black History and Education.It was through her very own experiences throughout life, in addition to an astounding legacy created by Mr. & Mrs. Frank C. Merritt that led Candida to rise and excel worldwide. Her main approach is geared towards serving people and giving back.
