Overview

Slip is a form of coloured liquid clay which can be used for decorationon its own or covered with glaze at a later firing. Slip is an ancientconcept and was used on Roman and Greek vases. There are manytechniques in regard to using slips such as sponging, marbling, brushing on, using stencils, trailing, sgraffito and inlay amongstothers, and this book will cover them all using contemporary potterswork as illustrations. It will explain how to make up slips andengobes, as well as ways of using them at higher temperatures and withglazes.
