OverviewKids learn by doing! Former teacher and school counsellor, Julia Cook, has created entertaining games and engaging activities (using everything from jigsaw puzzles and beach balls to spaghetti and marshmallows) that teach students the social skills of working as a team and sharing. This guide offers everything teachers need: instructions, lists of materials when needed, activity sheets, homework ideas and suggestions on variations and extensions. A CD includes all of the reproducible pages including ""reward coupons"" in full colour that can be used to recognise students who master and use the skills appropriately. Any teacher with students who squabble when they need to share or who have trouble working together, can use the creative ideas in this book to bring more cooperation and caring to the classroom. I used the book and activity guide with class and they liked it. A lot of products are for a younger audience but I think the activities in this book could be used with most grades. - Hillary Sanford, Amazon I bought this for my five year old daughter so she can understand that sharing is everything and a gateway to making and keeping friends. She had a hard time sharing things at first at school and always claiming everything she touches is hers so I had to get this book for her. It's cute though. - Pisces, Amazon I use this book with my 5 year old when he is being cooperative with others. I am a first grade teacher so j use it with my students as well. Good message and talking points. Social stories through picture books help children relate to the characters and situations better than traditional parent or teacher lecturing. - Amazon Customer Author InformationJulia Cook has written more than thirty books on behaviour and health for children. Kelsey de Weerd is a graphic designer and illustrator living in Los Angeles. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
