Author Information

John C. Worzbyt is professor emeritus from the counseling department at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. During his 31 years of department service, he was a chairperson, coordinator of doctoral studies, and coordinator of school counseling certification programs. John has been an educator for 39 years having worked as an elementary school teacher and middle school science teacher, elementary school counselor, and counselor educator. Worzbyt has co-authored four previous counseling textbooks, three monographs, and school counseling articles on a variety of topics. He is in the process of completing a caring children activities book to be used by adult care givers, working in a variety of settings, who strive to foster caring children and builders of caring communities. Three of his publications have received national writing awards from the American School Counselor Association and the former American Personnel and Guidance Association. His third co-authored publication, Beating the Odds, was honored and recognized by the United States Congressional Medal of Honor Society as its 1995 Youth Program of the Year.Worzbyt is a registrant of the National Distinguished Registry for Counseling and Development and has been listed in Who's Who in the World, American Education, Directory of American Scholars, and Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare. He is also a former recipient of the Counselor Educator of the Year Award (Pennsylvania School Counselor Association), the Eminent Practitioner Award (Pennsylvania Counseling Association), and the College of Education Faculty Recognition Award for Outstanding Accomplishments as Teacher-Scholar (Indiana University of Pennsylvania).
