Smith Jr. received his BA degree in communications from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma in 2000. For the better part of his career after graduating high school from Frederick High School in Frederick Oklahoma he went to work for several media companies ranging from the ABC affiliate in Lawton Oklahoma KSWO channel 7 to the CBS television affiliate in Oklahoma City, KWTV channel 9, and PBS as a photojournalist. He then earned his BS degree in history at Southern Oregon University in 2005, and his MA in 2006, also from Southern Oregon University. Continuing his education he received his ESOL endorsement through Portland State University in 2011. While in college, Mr. Smith was active in NDT-CEDA College Policy Debate, where he won numerous awards. Along the way he has been part of many documentary productions including the 100th year celebration of Lawton Oklahoma depicting the land lottery story of famed Mattie Beal, Television commercials for local business in Southern Oregon, and wedding photography and film. Mr. Smith is now a Teacher Learning Facilitator in Educational Technology (TLF) for the Woodburn School District in Woodburn, Oregon. Melvin W.
