Tay Goes to STEM Camp is the introductory book in the Tay and Friends Early Science Readers Series.Tay and Friends are home for the summer and looking for adventures. They are curious and love science. Follow them as they learn to understand what S. T. E. M. stands for and how they can learn to become scientists too. Children in grades second through fourth are in the critical stages of transitioning from learning how to read, to becoming readers who are reading to learn. Tay and Friends STEM series will be the tool they need to help them bridge this transition by supporting them with engaging pictures, and easy-to-read text, including scientific vocabulary that is easily understood. WOW! Your book about Tay and Friends Go to STEM Camp is very exciting to read. The reading tips explanation on how to read a word when you get stuck is wonderfully put and placed. You provide another avenue for children to read using STEM as a medium. Your book is well thought out and your future series of books will be a collection you want people to have for sure. Author Information

Phelicia is a native of California and has roots in the Bay Area. She's a wife, mother, grandmother, author, and a publisher. She has a Masters in Reading Leadership with a focus on Multicultural Literature. Her twenty years in education include working for private, charter, and public schools. She admits one of her greatest joys in teaching included teaching her own four children to read. It was during the homeschool years that she learned that not all children learn the same way and that there isn't a one size fits all curriculum. She's currently a First Grade Teacher and sits on the board of Contra Costa County's Local Planning Council for Early Care and Education. After creating and successfully coordinating a summer Kindergarten Intervention Program for African American Children within her local school district, she continues to advocate for early literacy by participating on the design team for Ready Kids East County. Considering that Phelicia is a literacy advocate and very passionate about early literacy, both the Ready Kids Easy County, and the Local Planning Council positions suit her well. Teaching students to learn to read well, think critically, and develop a love of literacy is a portion of her work. Assuring students have access to literature that reflects their lives and cultures in a positive light is the fuel of her passion. Thus, writing and publishing books for beginning and early readers is a byproduct of her company's mission. She writes so African American children can say, I see Me On the Page.
