Overview

A mamma alligator, Madame Marie Coco-Dree, travels through the Scary Forest to save her hatchlings. Prompted by her wise neighbors, Monsieur Wah-wah-rohn, the bullfrog, and Luh-ee-boo Sal, the great horned owl, she risks life and limb to find the only being who can help: the great swamp wizard Paw-Paw Ay-cray-veese. As she travels through the Scary Forest in search of an omniscient crawfish, the swamp wizard Paw-Paw Ay-cray-veese, Madame Coco-dree encounters terrifying creatures of Cajun folklore. Yet, wielding courage and love she finds her way through: from the Dreaded Grr-Grr, to the Mooka-wocka, to the Awful Tou-gah-gah, from the boing-boing fish, to the tooka-tocka bats, to the Wicked Prince Rou-gah-rou--just to name a few.

Author Information

"Jace Douglas Johnson is a native of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and a graduate of the prestigious Claremont McKenna College. His bucolic writing style, inspired by his love for Louisiana, has drawn comparisons to William Faulkner and Harper Lee. His imagination was inspired by a childhood of handlining blue crabs on the bayou and dangling from ancient live oaks on coastal cheniers. Jace's passion is storytelling--artful beguiles of pen, paper, and film. Jace is best known for co-writing and producing the film ""Little Chenier: A Cajun Story,"" which was based on his novel manuscript, ""Little Chenier, Les Jours De Pemon."" Jace currently resides in New Orleans, Louisiana."
