OverviewThis translation is based on the core principle of Tao philosophy. In the Introduction, we discuss the core principle based on the Tao Te Ching. In the translation, we show that the words of Lao-tzu are self-consistent and his words follow a definite logic. We can now interpret his words without much need for speculation. Lao-tzu provides a logical way to show the relationship between appearances and reality. We can see how his words point to the true reality of Tao, and eliminate the self-contradiction in the Tao Te Ching. The logic of Tao philosophy is consistently reflected in this translation of the Tao Te Ching. We also show Tao philosophy as a general philosophy, similar to the Western and Buddhist philosophies. He first becomes interested in Tao philosophy because the Tao Te Ching has been a most mysterious philosophy. He hopes to contribute to our understanding of this mystery. His first analysis was published as The Dynamic Tao and its Manifestations (2004). Afterwards, he continues to work on the principle and logic of Tao philosophy. He has surveyed and consolidated many ancient and modern philosophies to formulate a consistent logic model for Tao philosophy. He has published The Basic Theory of Tao Philosophy (2006), which shows an initial scientific model reflecting the Tai-Chi relationship in Tao. He published a complete formulation of the logic structure as The Logic of Tao Philosophy (in Chinese, 2013). Since the completion of the analysis, he has summarized the results in two books: (1) The Tao Te Ching: The Logic of Tao Philosophy (a Kindle eBook, 2013) and The Tao Te Ching: An Ultimate Translation (a Kindle eBook, 2013). These works present the foundation of Tao philosophy. This is the first time that logic of Tao philosophy is presented with mathematical clarity. It makes a logical and self-consistent translation possible. He shares his works as a major step in our understanding of Tao philosophy. He holds a Ph. D. degree from M. I. T. and resides near Chicago, Illinois. Please send your comments and suggestions to: wwwang@alum.mit.edu.
