Taming Time: How to Not Lose Your Mind

Overview

Taming Time is the story of how a lifelong space cadet became a CEO without sacrificing her humanity. It is a guide for anyone who knows they are capable of more but keeps getting buried under the chaos of their own days. Heather Johnson, CEO of Gozynta, grew up scattered, creative, and chronically overcommitted. She built a company anyway. Then she built a system that finally made her time work for her instead of against her. In this book, she shares the principles behind that system, blending research, real leadership experience, and the values that shaped her company. Empathy. Directness. Growth. Excellence. This is not a book about squeezing more tasks into your calendar. It is not a rigid formula or a one-size-fits-all plan. It is a framework for understanding how you work, how your brain works, and how to build a Time Operating System that fits you, not the other way around. If you have ever felt too distracted, too overwhelmed, or too unconventional to run your life with clarity, Taming Time will show you how to reclaim your attention and design a system built for the way you think. It is the roadmap out of chaos and into leadership, shaped around who you are and who you want to become.

Author Information

Heather Erin Johnson, MBA, is the CEO and cofounder of Gozynta, a software and consulting company known for its values-driven approach to helping businesses grow with clarity and purpose. She leads with empathy, directness, growth, and excellence, bringing those same principles to the companies she supports through strategy consulting and Gozynta's Growth Program. Earlier in her career, Heather served in Senior Leadership at Hartford International University, where she focused on organizational growth and international program development. During that time, she co-organized the President's Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge with Georgetown University, an event held under President Obama's White House that brought together more than ten thousand participants. She also led a peace and interfaith tour across Southeast Asia, working on community engagement, leadership development, and cross-cultural collaboration. She later served for four years as Vice President of the National Society of IT Service Providers, advocating for higher standards and a stronger, more professional future for the technology services industry. Heather began her career as a self-described space cadet, creative and curious, but constantly wrestling with focus and structure. Over time, she built systems that supported her instead of working against her. That journey shaped Taming Time, a research-grounded guide for people who want to work with intention and build lives that fit who they are. She now lives in the Netherlands with her family and is building a new community-based shared workspace and incubator program, Launchpad023, with her husband Brian. Their latest adventure continues the same mission that drives her work. Helping people grow. Helping communities thrive. And always, the ongoing practice of taming time.
