Talking With God - His Way""......He who belongs to God hears what God says, the reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God..."" (John 8: 47)This is one of the most overlooked truths in all of scripture. If you were asked how often you pray, or more importantly how often you hear God speak, what would your answer be? We all have heard of those who speak of answered prayers and how it feels to talk with God. However, the majority of Christian's I've talked with over my lifetime have told me that while people are searching and seeking to connect with God, they are not hearing God as they hoped. It seems that most agree that God loves us, wants to care for us and talk with us, so what is the problem? To be sure, throughout the scripture we see stories of Gods children talking with God. Stories that show God talking with those who have been good, those who have been truly evil; but repented, and those in times of difficulties, hardship and pain. So, if God talked with them, why not me?The irony of these message's in scripture is that while God does want to talk with you; to understand why it is not happening for you, you must understand that it will take longer than a 30 minute sermon once a week to receive this deep and abiding truth, Talking With God (must be done) His Way. There are many voices to confuse us. There are those who teach in countless sermons, sermons that appeal to our human need to put God in a box, who say, ""Just follow these 3 or 5 steps and you can talk with God"". They teach that ""God is bound by His promises to do what we ask of Him"". I do not believe that these sermons are a malicious attempt to distort the gospel; but, I do believe they cause God's people confusion, a loss of peace and over time may cause a loss of faith.In ""Talking With God - His Way"", Carl takes the reader through the Fundamentals of a Conversation with God, reveals the Wall's of Separation that keep us from hearing God speak, reviews The Lord's Prayer and why it is the perfect model for us to follow and catalogs the human and physical Hindrances that deafen us to the voice of God and close His ears to us. Carl Schulz has served in many capacities in ministry. Carl's roots were in rural southwest Oklahoma where he was raised and has served as part-time music and youth minister through high school, college and into his early adulthood. He was also instrumental in beginning a traveling music group while in college called the ""Missionaries,"" leading music programs in churches throughout the mid-west. Carl entered full-time ministry at the age of 23 and became a senior pastor by the age of 30. During his time as senior pastor of a large suburban First Church in the Midwest hundreds of men, women and children were saved, baptized and became active in that fellowship. At the age of 35 and after a failed marriage, Carl began an entrepreneurial life and has successfully owned and operated many different types of businesses. Although never doubting his salvation Carl struggled throughout these years to find Gods place for him in the local church. Ultimately these years culminated in the failure of his business, complete financial loss and many legal problems. These years were used by God to revitalize Carl's relationship with Him and to answer the many questions that had haunted him for years. During this time Carl became aware of one abiding truth, that ""God does not repent of (or turn his back on) His callings."" As a result Carl has once again looked to God for His purpose and plan for his life. It was these experience's, which birthed the writing of this book. Carl has also written many songs and recorded one Album entitled, ""He Lifts Me Up."" Carl is as comfortable in front of a camera or microphone as he is speaking at luncheons, conferences and retreats. As a successful businessman, musician and author, he has spoken and preformed in front of large crowds, politicians, small country churches, and individuals; and understands that we are all Gods children, seeking to find Gods will for our lives. Carl is single with five children and eight grandchildren and when home is actively involved with his local church fellowship.
