Talk About the USA by Eric Miller is designed to be used as a resource for intermediate level English language classes-both EFL and ESL. It could be used as a primary text or as a supplementary resource for a course about United States Culture or American Studies. The thought-provoking images and questions could also be used in virtually any kind of English conversation class whose goal is to get students talking about a variety of interesting topics. This book has 20 units that cover essential aspects of US culture, such as geography, history, immigration, holidays, food, social issues and trends, just to name a few. Specific knowledge about the USA is not a requirement for using this book. The questions in the book are carefully divided into three sections designed to allow students to 1) explore the topic, 2) learn some basic facts and information about the USA, and 3) discuss and/or write about issues more deeply. Students will be interested just to read through and consider these thought-provoking questions, and in doing so, come to understand more about American culture as well as their own culture.
