Overview

Two people on unexpected life journeys across time and place. Thomas McDermott, a fourteen-year-old Dublin child being forced into the priesthood by family and custom in 1843, rebels. His father may have planned the course of his life, but Thomas dreams of a different unfolding, one that would lead to adventure and the promise of the new world. He has one chance to pursue his dream. He stows aboard a merchant ship he believes is heading for the New World, only to find it is sailing east with no intention of ever docking in the Americas. So begins a life spanning the seven seas until fate brings him to his 'dream'. Tom Webb lives in 2025. He is a genius computer programmer, coder, and designer who longs to find his origins. He, like many African Americans, can follow his lineage a generation or two before the string runs out. He believes he is dying from a genetic disease and so decides to sell off his codes and secrets and go in search of his past. Paths will cross, discoveries made, sins and failings exposed. You can't choose family or history.
