Reviews

The [Tales From Nottingham] series has done a fantastic job of exploring the eclectic characters in the Nottingham universe, giving each player depth and development far beyond what could be done in the main series. * Comical Opinions * I look forward to the future issues and the opportunity to see other talented creators try their hand in Hazan and Connery Volk's Nottingham playground. It should be fun. * Geek Vibes Nation * Hazan manages to weave a heartbreaking romance into this political drama that is engaging and greatly fleshes out the motivations of the main character. * Comic Book Yeti * Tales of Nottingham does do a good job of standing on the shoulders of giants. * Resting and Reviewing * Every creative is showing off their best effort [...] * Gutternaut *

Author Information

David Hazan is a comic book writer and editor based in Melbourne, Australia. He is the writer and creator of the hit series Nottingham, from Mad Cave Studios and a winner of the Mad Cave Studios 2019 Talent Search. David's clients include Mad Cave Studios, Gestalt Comics and more. Anna Everts is a comic writer from the Netherlands. They started writing professionally in 2020, if you don’t count the self-published squirrel story they wrote in primary school. When they’re not writing, they like to paint landscapes, make an attempt at reading their many unread books, and obsess over fictional characters from popular media. They describe themselves as chaotic neurodivergent, and like to collect rocks, trinkets, and on occasion, dead things. Sabs Cooper has written for Syfy and Geeks OUT, was featured in A Wave Blue World's Dead Beats anthology, and is a co-creator of the series Finger Guns from Vault Comics. She also manages a book and comic shop in Bend, Oregon called Pegasus Books. When she's not writing, selling, or reading comics, she's creating little photo copied poetry zines, performing at stand-up comedy open mics, practicing witchcraft in her backyard, and rewatching Frasier. She shares a home with her two partners, three cats, a dizzying number of books, and one of the largest collections of Tenchi Muyo paraphernalia in North America. Dylan is a freelance writer of comic books and fiction. Born and raised in London, he grew up in dingy comic book shops where he developed a lifelong passion for telling stories. He has a Master’s degree in Biology, and is currently studying Creative Writing. He was a winner of Mad Cave Studio’s 2021 Talent Search, which led to his first published work. He is currently working on new self-published projects for 2023! Damien Becton was born in Sumter, South Carolina and has been an avid comic book reader as long as he can remember. He has written self-published, creator-owned comics like WORLDS AWAY and the upcoming TRY NOT TO DIE. When he's not creating, he's an assistant principal at a middle school in Charlotte, North Carolina. Magdalene Visaggio is the two-time Eisner-nominated and three-time GLAAD Media Award-nominated writer of books including KIM & KIM, ETERNITY GIRL, and VAGRANT QUEEN. Born in Long Island and raised in Virginia, Magdalene currently resides in New York City with her wife and a very lazy cat. Shane Connery Volk is the lead singer and songwriter for Canadian rock band, One Bad Son. Over the last 18 years, Volk’s commanding stage presence and soaring vocal range has captivated fans. OBS has toured with Def Leppard, Judas Priest, and Shinedown, among many others, and landed a coveted spot on the 2019 Rolling Stones tour. In embracing the full spectrum of his art, Volk has also embarked on his career as a professional comic book artist, winning Mad Cave Studios talent search in 2019. His first series is the medieval noir Nottingham with publisher Mad Cave Studios. This five-issue series has become a hit, with each issue receiving multiple printings. The success of Nottingham has brought Volk one step closer to a lifelong aspiration, to draw comics and make music his whole life - more art all the time! Miguel worked in animation in México City and later at a local newspaper during the late 80s to early 90s. By mid the 90s, he started collaborating with local comic book studios in Monterrey, Mexico. He started his first professional gig in the early 2000s in mexican publications. From then on, Miguel has done artwork for many different independent U.S. publishers for both digital and physical publishings, now including Mad Cave. Rafael Romeo Magat is a Filipino illustrator and proud winner of the 2021 Mad Cave Studios Talent Search. He has been published in WinC Magazine, FutureQuake, Tales from the Quarantine, Five from Beyond and Jill Trent: Science Sleuth. He has also contributed promotional artwork for the film Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). For the first time ever, an entire 20 page story he drew will be available in comic book stores as part of the Mad Cave Studios series Tales from Nottingham. Artist from Montevideo, Uruguay, lover of comics since he was a child, he studied at Continental Art Schools. Winner of an award for best graphic novel in Uruguay and now starting his international career. He read comics since he was a kid, and as a teenager he felt he couldn’t do anything but draw comics! He lost sight of his goal for a while, but now, little by little, he’s trying to put himself back on track!
