Overview

The Woodland Sprite Series combines real challenges of the natural world through an enchanted fantasy world of fairies. The books follow the adventures of two young sister nature sprites, Sky and Anil, 'Defenders of the Four Winds' on a quest to help them from spiralling out of control of the weather. The series offers different levels of understanding from children aged 6 to adults. It illustrates a brighter future, designed to inspire a new generation untainted by existing systems, empowering them to advocate for change through their collective voices and find purpose in the process. PAPERBACK WITH IMAGES IN B/W or COLOUR: Taken by Storm Taken by Storm tells the story of young nature sprite sisters Sky and Anil, keeping watch over the ancient woodland of Cabilla. Their primary purpose is protecting nature. They spend their days studying the magic hidden in nature and writing their findings in their journals. One morning, as rain refreshes the woodland, Sky watches nature sprites adding their colourful glow to a rainbow and realises that she, too, must discover her true colour to shine and join them in making wishes come true. The chance for adventure arises when a robin redbreast named Robbie announces a nature summit called by Titania, Queen of the Fairies, at the Temple of the Four Winds. The summit will address concerns over the protests initiated by the winds against pollution as extreme weather becomes increasingly out of control and unpredictable. Passing a nature test set by their teachers, the Woodland Welfare Workers, Sky and Anil are allowed to attend the summit in Yorkshire. Blown away by a terrible storm at the wedding of a pair of barn owls, Sky and Anil are saved by the West Wind onto the branches of an old Yew tree in Ray Woods. Engulfed by clouds, they make new friends with conservation sprites, a pixie prince, an Irish leprechaun and a wise old goblin, forming a team to help the Four Winds regain control of the weather. Animals from far and wide have gathered in protest against the destruction of their homes to make way for a new train line. Sky makes a wish to help them and finds a solution. She opens a wish to unite nations through the love of nature at the Nature Summit, asking sprites to hold hands to form rainbows across continents. Hearing stories of melting ice and extreme heat from arctic ice and desert sand sprites, Sky meets members of MAP - Most Affected People - and is on a mission to help them and make wishes come true.
