An unknown killer is hunting in Nashville's homeless camps, leaving their bodies in high-crime Baily Park. To lure unsuspecting victims, he uses the pretense of a job offer from a trusted and respected name: top P.I. Ethan Jenks. When Mickey is hired to find a missing teen, she goes undercover in Trestle, the city's most violent homeless camp, but within twenty-four hours she learns he's the latest victim. Trestle's criminal kingpin has a long, volatile history with Ethan, and when he targets Mickey for a brutal beating she is forced to move to another camp. The undercover policewoman who saved her from the beating, reassigned to another camp, interrupts one of the kidnappings and has now been kidnapped herself. Ethan takes over in Trestle and he and Mickey untangle a twisted web of deception involving two shadowy recruiters and a killer who believes his murders are part of a divine lesson he's been commanded to teach. Clues lead them beyond the camps to remote farms and a labyrinth of underground tunnels where the killer's true motives and depravity become horrifyingly clear. The truth is darker than either of them imagined and the killer is always one step ahead. With the lives of two young men and the undercover policewoman on the line, he takes his intended victims to the one place no one would think to look: where it all began.
