The hard work of biblical interpretation is to show the ways in which this ancient text continues to ring with contemporaneity. Gossai is a master of such interpretation who does just that work. . . The outcome is an exposition of ethical insistence that in the end empowers us to 'walk good, ' his formula for a journey of goodness and grace, justice and kindness, compassion and care. --Walter Brueggemann, Columbia Theological Seminary What does it mean to 'take heart' in turbulent times? Gossai answers this question by drawing on the wisdom of biblical and modern authors, weaving together a timely cultural commentary on the positive power of relationships, responsibility, choice, and risk. Take Heart is a call to 're-soul' ourselves individually and collectively, a call that is rooted in the values of radical empathy and grace that inform every page of this enduring volume. --Amy L. Balogh, Regis University
