Denise Lawson is an author and illustrator of children's books. Her works include the Black Bear Sled Dog book series. She received the award of First Runner-Up in the 2020 San Francisco Book Festival and was a presenter at the Frostburg State University Children's Literature Festival. She has a diverse background which includes producing educational media and teaching graduate courses for Carnegie Mellon University. She has a BS in Psychology from Georgetown University and an MBA from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.Denise has a passion for fitness, travel, and adventure. She goes dog sledding in Alaska every year and helps to rehome retired Alaskan sled dogs. Her dogs often join her on author visits at schools, libraries, and special events.
