OverviewToday in Brussels and the United States, a treaty is being signed that could radically change the lives of hundreds of millions of American and European citizens. It's called TAFTA. Its aim is to lower trade barriers as much as possible-particularly standards-between our two continents, in order to facilitate trade. Negotiations have already begun on regulations affecting all aspects of our lives (food, health, social rights, etc.). Yet these regulations are being undertaken without us, without our elected representatives, and instead with representatives of the multinationals. This book presents the issues at stake in TAFTA and identifies the potential risks, so that citizens can take ownership of these questions and demand a real democratic debate.
