Author Information

"J.D. Hunter published (through CreateSpace) Dictionary of American English Idioms and Slang in 2014. She is a graduate of Portland State University in Portland, Oregon. She developed the first ESL course at The Boeing Company in Seattle, Washington and taught this course for over ten years. This dictionary has over 5,000 well-known words and phrases that flummox a non-native speaker of English such as ""hand-over-fist"", ""get the short end of the stick"", and ""If you snooze, you lose"". Ms. Hunter compiled 5,000 of these phrases over several years time and published her book."
