OverviewAnne searches for peace while her heart searches for love After a tragic accident kills her parents in 1959, eleven-year-old Anne is sent to live with her grandpa on his ranch in the remote desert community of Lovejoy, a place that's never brought her love nor joy. She struggles to adapt to her new reality where she has no place in the world, isolated in a town of dust devils, Joshua trees, and tumbleweeds, iconic of the old Westerns. She searches for solace in the hidden beauty of the desert. When developers come to town seeking to build a lake and rename the community Lake Los Angeles, her grandpa sees the outsiders as just that-outsiders who are challenging his way of life. His lead ranch hand thinks it's time to sell the homestead to encourage land development. Anne is stuck in the middle with only Steve, the ranch hand's son on her side. Can Anne find peace amidst the winds of change, and will love find her along the way? A standalone prequel novella to the Desert of Dreams Series from award-winning author Amanda LaPera, Sway with the Wind lays the foundation for the books that follow. Check out Dare to Dream and Reach for Hope, the next two full-length novels in the series. Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationFor thirteen years, Amanda LaPera grew up in the small rural community of Lake Los Angeles, where, much like her characters, she was disappointed to learn there wasn't a lake and everything she planted died. She and her friends survived, buoyed by resilience and determination. Now her hobbies include watching hummingbirds in her yard surrounded by trees, playing board games with her husband, taunting her sons, and appeasing her dogs. She has sworn off succulents, because she believes they belong in the desert. Amanda LaPera is a national award-winning author. Her book, Losing Dad, Paranoid Schizophrenia: A Family's Search for Hope, won a Silver IBPA Award, was a BookLife Prize quarter finalist and a Readers' Favorite Awards finalist. Her sequel Finding Dad, Paranoid Schizophrenia: An End to the Search was a finalist in the IAN Book of the Year Awards. She teaches English and is a member of the California Writers Club and the Southern California Writers Association. She is working on her Desert of Dreams young adult series, set during the 1980s and 90s in the California High Desert.
